My first exposure to the iPod was during the new year's eve of 2008 at Bangalore in my cousin S's apartment complex. The iPod belonged to my cousin, I handled it for barely 5 minutes - and was totally confused on how to operate it, change tracks etc.
This evening - my Dad bought home a 1Gb iPod shuffle belonging to one of his colleague at work. I am told that the wife of this colleague washed his trouser along with the shuffle gizmo and now it isn't functioning (due to that). The only other electronic stuff that has suffered this way in my life experience is a Nokia 3310 handset which got washed along with my cargo pants in early 2007 - but it still works, and I only had to get its power IC changed at that time. Inspite of being iPod-illiterate, I connected it to my PC and found it wasn't getting powered on. I don't have a clue if its still under warranty period (have asked my Dad to inquire about it though), so that it can be replaced.
Any help, advise on this issue will be appreciated - I have no idea what to do, and my father thinks that I can 'fix' anything related to computers and electronic gadgets - bane of being in the IT Infrastructure field... occupational hazard !

Maybe, washing it again in the Washing Machine might help it. Like in the movies, where the second accident brings back memories from the first. :P
It's a PJ - but you never know with these gizmos. Which reminds me, that I have just lost 80 GB worth of movies and music last week. :(
Try taking it to repair center, won't it be the easiest, ofcourse it should not hurt your ego..
@Sanjubaba
I wouldn't mind taking it to repair center - provided it belonged to me, or if my dad's colleague gave me the warranty card stuff too along with the ipod! I don't know where 'ego' comes in here
ego never comes..its always there!! It only requires to be revoked.
I mentioned the ego part as taking someones help is actually a compromise for some. If it is not so for you...then you are one of those enlightened ones.
Never mind, warranty for Ipods are useless as you will never get a counter replacement. Try the laxmi rd area for repair of your Ipod for quick results (even if it is your uncles')...do him a favour!!
You can always charge him the repair cost...even better ask him to gift it to you!!!
I recently received an ipod shuffle from my son;please tell my in simple "123" language how to load tunes and remove them when need be. Have not been able to access this info from the ipod web cite.
